Site Navigation Stories 11

An image in a golden light of a woman superimposed on a church altar in front of an arched window.

I relied on the glow of dusk from the chancel window to photograph until this small church interior was in darkness. There was a faint scent of flowers and candlewax in the damp air. It was my first time using a neutral density filter to reduce the light entering my camera. As that was not enough, I chose the smallest aperture and long exposures. In making these adaptations, I visualised the lens being my damaged eyes to be one step ahead of what is happening to my sight.
